Care

Whether it’s daytime or overnight support you’re looking for, I am there to foster a joyful beginning to your life’s brand new chapter. I will come to your home to assist you in caring for both yourself & your newborn. I understand both personally and professionally how sacred and often trying the “4th Trimester” can be. I will meet you wherever you are in that, and nurture your family accordingly based on your individual strengths & struggles. I will offer information on navigating those first days & weeks, and provide hands on help tailored to your needs. I believe that every birthing person can greatly benefit from postpartum support. As they say, it takes a village, and I can’t wait to be the newest member of yours!

During a daytime visit, I will arrive and access your individual needs for the day. Whether it’s offering breastfeeding tips or teaching you my favorite swaddling technique, I am there to answer any questions you may have. We will navigate your concerns together, and I have an extensive list of other area professionals as well as reading material I recommend so we can navigate any challenges we come across along the way. I also offer help with basic meal prep & postpartum nutrition information, any light housework that may need doing, running quick errands before I arrive, caring for any other children or pets in your home, and I’m always very happy to offer an open heart, mind, and caring ear to listen.

During an overnight visit, I will arrive at your home when family is ready for bedtime. If you have any concerns before you turn in for the night, we can discuss them as I settle in with your baby. I always stay close to your baby as they sleep in either their nursery, living room, or guest room with the bassinet near by. I will catch some shut eye as your newborn sleeps, but will wake when they do to comfort them and address their needs. I will bottle feed your baby, or bring them to breastfeed if you so choose. If you breastfeed exclusively you will still get plenty of rest with me there as I will immediately take over care when you are finished nursing. If your baby bottle feeds or you pump at night, I will hand wash all bottles or pump parts once your baby has eaten. Whenever your baby is soothed, swaddled up & sleeping soundly I will take detailed notes to share with you the following day so that we can keep track of how your baby’s sleep habits are progressing. Once we are nearing the end of our time together I will begin to transition your baby into their crib if we haven’t already, and set you up for nighttime success & a good foundation for healthy sleep habits in my absence. We can also discuss the option of bringing in a sleep consultant if we are seeing any major issues beyond my scope of practice as your doula, or if you’d just like a more structured, expert plan. I’ve worked hard to become a nighttime baby whisperer, and love being able to facilitate good sleep for new parents.
